FAQs
Who is a good candidate for CST?
CST can benefit a wide range of people including those dealing with chronic pain, headaches, migraines, stress, anxiety, sleep issues, nervous system dysregulation, TMJ dysfunction, and more. If you’re unsure whether CST is right for you, don’t hesitate to reach out, Lea is happy to chat before you book.
Does CST hurt?
CST is an extremely gentle treatment and the techniques themselves will not cause pain. However, as tissues release in the body, it can cause some discomfort or other sensations. This can be an occasional occurrence, but is a normal part of the process and typically resolves by the end of the session.
What will I feel during the session?
What is felt during a session varies greatly from person to person. Some people feel tissues releasing/softening, some feel other painless sensations. Some don't feel anything at all. But most drop into a deep state of relaxation during the session.
What will I feel after the session?
Some people notice effects immediately, some notice them in the hours after the session, some the next day, and some notice no effects at all. Changes continue to occur in the body for 48 hours after treatment. Just like during the treatment, some discomfort or other symptoms can occur. Typically this resolves within 24 hours, but Lea offers a short complimentary rebalancing session if any symptoms should linger.
How many sessions will I need?
Each person is different in what they need. Just like massage, receiving CST on a regular basis is ideal. Every 4-6 weeks is typically a good schedule for maintenance, but if you're dealing with a more significant issue, more frequent care is required before tapering down. Lea will discuss a recommended care plan with you after your initial session based on what was found and what your goals are.
What should I wear?
Any type of clothing is acceptable, but try to avoid wearing a hooded sweatshirt. If you are wearing a belt, you will be asked to remove it. You will remain fully clothed for the session.
How long is the appointment?
The initial session is up to 75 minutes. Follow up sessions are usually 60 minutes, but a 30 minute option is available as well.
Is CST covered by insurance?
Luminous CST does not bill insurance and does not accept HSA or FSA. Cash, check, card, and Apple Pay are accepted.
What is a Muscle & Joint Assessment?
A Muscle & Joint Assessment is a thorough evaluation of your musculoskeletal system designed to identify areas of dysfunction, pain, or imbalance.
Who is a good candidate for a Muscle & Joint Assessment?
This service is for individuals who are dealing with an injury or acute or chronic pain related to the musculoskeletal system.
What happens during a Muscle & Joint Assessment?
You will receive a comprehensive assessment of the area of pain including, range of motion, strength, and other special testing looking at joint integrity. You will then receive some treatment to the area followed by a home care plan consisting of targeted stretches and exercises. These stretches and exercises will be progressed at each subsequent visit.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on the results of the assessment, but typical follow up is around once every two weeks. This is not a service where continual maintenance is needed. If improvements don't occur within 4-6 weeks, you will be referred out for further care.
What should I wear?
You should wear loose fitting clothing that provides the best access to the injured/painful body part. Lea will have clothing to change into if needed.
How long is the appointment?
The Muscle & Joint Assessment is 60-75 minutes. Follow up sessions can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Ideal follow up time will be discussed during the assessment.
